President's Message

Mike MullisPresident, 2026 CMAA North Carolina Chapter

CMAA North Carolina Members and Future Members,

As I begin my term as President of the North Carolina Chapter of CMAA, I want to thank Sholes Homewood, our 2025 President, for his exceptional leadership and long-standing dedication to the chapter. His vision and steady guidance have played a major role in CMAA NC’s continued success.

I also want to recognize Rachel Fleming, President-Elect, whose insight and leadership continue to elevate our chapter, and welcome Alina Redden to the Executive Committee as Secretary. Alina’s work leading Membership over the past two years has been instrumental to our growth and organization.

We are pleased to welcome new Board members:

  • Gray Glover, Director of Programs
  • Brandon Blakley, Director of Membership
  • Sean Wagoner, Director of Sponsorship

Thank you as well to those rolling off the Board for their service:

  • Jeff Thatcher, Past President
  • Justin Williams, Director of Sponsorship
  • Dave Smith, Director of Programs

Vision for 2026

In 2026, my vision for CMAA North Carolina is to build deeper engagement, expand our reach across the construction and commercial real estate community, and increase our direct impact on students. By delivering programs and events members genuinely look forward to, strengthening partnerships, and thoughtfully growing membership and sponsorships, we can elevate the member experience while expanding scholarships and long-term investment in the next generation of construction professionals.

Supporting students remains central to this vision. Through scholarships and university endowments, CMAA North Carolina continues to invest in future construction leaders at Wake Tech Community College, NC A&T State University, East Carolina University, NC State University, Western Carolina University, UNC Charlotte, and Appalachian State University.

2025 was a strong year for the chapter. We launched a new signature event, the Project Awards and Casino Night, which enabled us to award $25,000 in student scholarships. Our Annual Golf Tournament was the highest-grossing to date, and Western North Carolina experienced continued growth with the introduction of a new regional event.

Whether you are a long-time member or new to CMAA, I encourage you to get involved, attend an event, and help shape the future of CMAA North Carolina.

Warm regards,
Mike Mullis
President, 2026 CMAA North Carolina Chapter
